Job Description:
Our client is seeking a hands-on, early-career Project Manager to support a large, cross-functional Workday implementation replacing their current HR and payroll system. This person will run the day-to-day mechanics of the project, keeping meetings, schedules, action items, risks, and status reporting organized and moving forward. They will work directly alongside the program lead with a brief daily check-in, then own their work independently for the rest of the day. This is a strong opportunity for a PM with solid fundamentals who is ready to step up and take on greater ownership of a complex project.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Maintain the project plan, milestones, deliverables, dependencies, and timelines
- Schedule and facilitate project meetings, working sessions, and status reviews
- Prepare agendas, capture decisions and action items, assign owners, and follow through to completion
- Maintain the RAID log, decision log, status reports, and other project documentation
- Track and flag risks, issues, and dependencies, escalating with clear context and recommended next steps
- Coordinate day-to-day activities across HR, Payroll, Finance, IT, and the external implementation partner
- Support coordination of testing schedules, readiness checkpoints, and deliverable reviews
- Develop concise project updates for stakeholders and leadership
Required Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of project management or project-delivery experience
- Strong command of core PM mechanics: planning, scheduling, dependency tracking, status reporting, RAID logs, and meeting facilitation
- Experience coordinating cross-functional teams and an external vendor or implementation partner
- Hands-on experience with a dedicated project management tool (e.g. Monday.com, Smartsheet, Asana, Jira), beyond Excel and Word
- Self-starter who can take direction and independently drive work forward without close oversight
- Available to work 11 AM - 5 PM ET
- Workday implementation experience, or experience with another enterprise SaaS implementation (ServiceNow, SAP SuccessFactors, Oracle HCM, UKG, Salesforce, etc.)
- Background in HR, payroll, or finance systems or processes
- Experience with Monday.com and SharePoint
- PMP, CAPM, Agile, or comparable certification
