Job Description:
This role is responsible for sales commission analysis and administration, partnering with sales and business leaders to ensure accurate payouts, identify discrepancies, and proactively drive process improvements across incentive compensation operations.
Job Summary
•Analyze and validate commission data during monthly and quarterly calculation and payout cycles, reviewing for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to plan rules.
•Investigate unusual changes or discrepancies in commission payouts, determine root cause, and recommend solutions rather than simply escalating issues.
•Maintain and validate sales hierarchy, crediting, quota, and other commission-related data in support of accurate payout processing.
•Prepare commission reports and dashboards for sales leadership, finance, and payroll, and assist with period-end close activities related to incentive compensation.
•Explain commission calculations and payout rationale clearly to sales leaders and internal stakeholders, including in situations involving disagreement or ambiguity.
•Identify opportunities to improve existing commission processes and proactively bring forward recommendations to streamline workflows.
•Partner with payroll, finance, and cross-functional stakeholders to support timely and accurate incentive compensation administration.
Minimum Requirements:
•2-5 years of experience in sales commission analysis, financial analysis, sales operations, or a comparable analytical business role.
•Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and SUMIFS.
•Demonstrated ability to work with large datasets, identify discrepancies and anomalies, and investigate issues to root cause.
•Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including comfort explaining analytical findings to business leaders.
•Comfortable operating in ambiguous, gray-area situations requiring judgment and independent problem-solving.
•Detail-oriented and highly organized, with strong time management skills.
•Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Prior experience with sales commission or incentive compensation management (ICM/SPM) platforms such as Oracle, Xactly, Varicent, CaptivateIQ, Anaplan, or similar.
•Familiarity with SQL or Power BI for data querying and reporting.
•Experience with advanced Excel functions including macros.
•Exposure to CRM systems such as Salesforce.
•Background in sales operations or compensation analysis with demonstrated process improvement contributions.
